The Battle for Yerbana City

Based on the Clone Wars (season-7, episode-9), this is my largest (to date) LEGO Star Wars MOC, The Battle for Yerbana City. It took over three months to build and is approximately, ok, I have no idea how many pieces it took… but it’s a lot.

A little over three months ago, I reached out to Coconut Brick Studios to see what planets would be suitable for a Clone Wars MOC. Having built a small clone army through the LEGO 501st Clone Legion battle pack, I knew I would base my next build on the Clone Wars featuring the 501st Legion.

Full disclosure, at the time of this writing, I’ve only seen the first season of the Clone Wars (great show) and wasn’t too familiar with its possibilities for custom LEGO creations. So when Coconut recommended that I build a MOC for the planet, Yerbana, I had some investigating to do.

I was instantly drawn to the planet because there’s not much we know about it. Wikipedia describes it as a terrestrial planet in the Savareen sector of the Outer Rim Territories. It had a breathable atmosphere and a surface with oceans, mountains, and canyons. If you want a full breakdown of why I’ve chosen Yerbana for this MOC and the backstory of the build, I would suggest that you watch the complete MOC walkthrough on YouTube linked below.

To provide a bit of context for the pictures below, I’ve built two scenes within this MOC showcase. The first is The Occupation, where we see Separatist forces working with mercenaries to strip Yerbana of its resources through a small mining operation outside the city. The second is The Liberation, where we see the 501st Legion Clone Troopers attacking the Seperatistst to liberate Yerbana.

I’ve included short descriptions of what’s shown in the pictures below, but I would highly recommend that you watch the full finale video.

Watch it on YouTube

This video is one of, if not my favorite, I've made. While it could be better edited, it's one of the best stories I've told. Using a log of cutscenes, overlays, text, and excellent scores, I had a lot of fun making this as cinematic as possible. It's so much fun filming a large-scale battle.

The Occupation

In The Occupation, we get a glimpse into the Separatist mining operation moments before the 501st Clone Legion arrives. Running the operation are a group of custom LEGO mercenaries. These mercenaries primarily use the bodies from LEGO Space Police and custom helmets from FireStar Toys. We also see B-1 Battle Droids, a Service Droid, a Market, the Mountain Bunker, Watchtower, Temple, Refinery, and local Yerbana inhabitants forced into labor at the mine entrance.

The Liberation

In The Liberation, we see the 501st Clone Legion in action. Anikan Skywalker, General Kenobi, and Captain Rex converge on the Separatist’s forces in one of the most fun segments of the MOC series. In this segment, you see my custom AT-RT build along with some great Minifigure poses. The ARF Troopers feature custom helmets from Clone Army Customs. The Lieutenant helmets and all of the weapons are also from CAC. The togas you see on some of the inhabitants are from FireStar Toys.
